Industry Minister Muhammad Hamad Azhar briefed the Prime Minister on sugar production and prices in the country.
As per the directions of the Prime Minister, various proposals were also considered to ensure possible reduction in the prices of edible oil, petroleum products and gas.

The Chief Secretaries briefed the people on the arrangements for meeting the needs of wheat in the provinces, especially during the month of Ramadan, with regard to the supply of cheap flour through Ramadan bazaars and other arrangements.


Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that ensuring supply of basic commodities like flour and sugar at reasonable prices was the top priority of the government.

The Prime Minister said that a program was being formulated to provide direct subsidy to the deserving and poor people in the field of basic necessities which would not only provide the subsidy provided by the government directly to the deserving persons but also The subsidy system will be made transparent and efficient.


The Prime Minister directed to ensure that the prices of basic food items like flour do not go up.

Advance arrangements should be made while learning from the past to meet the needs of wheat.

The Prime Minister directed the economic team to review every tax levied on edible oil, petroleum products and other items so as to provide relief to the people by reducing the tax burden as much as possible.


The Prime Minister said that the biggest burden of indirect taxes falls on the poor so out-of-the-box solutions should be proposed to reduce this burden so that poor people can be saved from the burden of taxes where state revenue is not affected.
