Foreign Minister meets with Saudi counterpart to discuss regional peace and stability issues including US-Iran tensions


ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will visit Saudi Arabia today after Iran where peace and regional situation in the Middle East will be discussed.

The Foreign Office said in a statement that the purpose of the visit to Iran is to end US, Iran tension in the region and to establish lasting peace.

According to the statement, the Foreign Minister met with the Iranian President and his counterparts in which the Middle East, the Gulf situation and bilateral relations were discussed.

According to the Foreign Office, the Iranian leadership praised Prime Minister Imran Khan's efforts for reducing tension and lasting peace.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a tweet about his visit to Iran that constructive and positive talks were held with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who will continue diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region. Pakistani soil will not be used for any war.


Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood along with Shah Mahmood Qureshi and senior foreign ministry officials are also visiting Saudi Arabia and Iran. During the meeting with the Saudi counterpart, the Foreign Minister will discuss regional peace and stability issues, including US-Iran tensions.
